What does 'run schedule genius' do?

The schedule genius is a feature to help you get the most out of your festival calendar. It will take the events you have saved on your calendar, and then try to rearrange them so that you no longer have any event conflicts. It will move events to alternate screenings in such a way to maximize the number of events you can see without conflict.

To use it, just use the add/remove to schedule buttons like you normally would to put together your schedule. Don't worry about picking events that are at the same time - the wizard will attempt to find other screenings that will allow you to see both events. Once you are done picking all of the events you would like to see, click on 'run schedule genius'.

The genius will ask you what days you plan to attend the festival, then will attempt to develop a schedule for you that has all of the selected films, parties, panels, and other events you said you wanted to see. When it is done, you will be presented a new candidate schedule. Some events will be purple, indicating that they are on your calendar. Other events will be in black, indicating that particular event at that time is not on your calendar.

If there is an event that you absolutely must see, or a particular screening time that you absolutely must see, then simply add that event to your calendar. The genius will respect your request and attempt to again rearrange all of the other events around these 'Must See' events. It will inform you of what other events must be removed from your calendar or rescheduled in order to add that event at that specific time.

Once you are satisfied with the schedule in the genius, you must click 'accept & save calendar'. If you want to revert back to your calendar before the genius rearranged things, just click 'cancel' instead.

You can go back and forth between adding events to your schedule and using the genius as many times as you like.

How do I download my schedule?

On the Schedule page, you can click on the 'download schedule' menu drop down. You will be presented with two choices.

The first ('get my schedule') will download an ICS file that you can save on your computer and then import into a calendar program such as iCal or Google Calendar. Alternatively, you can right-click and 'Copy Link' in your browser to get the ICS URL that you can subscribe to.

The second ('get full schedule') works the same way, but will download the entire festival schedule (not just the events you placed on your personal calendar).

Please note that there is a known issue using downloaded calendar files in Outlook; Outlook does not recognize the time zone information stored in the file and may display screening times that are off by a number of hours. We are aware of this issue and are developing a special download for Outlook users that will eliminate the time zone issue.

How do I print my schedule?

On the 'schedule' page, click on the 'print schedule' menu drop down. You will be presented with three choices.

The first ('print my schedule') will create a new page with your saved schedule of events, formatted for printing, and will bring up your print dialog box. Just hit "OK" and print.

The second choice ('print full schedule') works the same way, but will print the full schedule page (either week or day view) that you are currently viewing.

The last choice ('print filtered schedule') will allow you to print a subset of the full festival schedule using the filter menu drop downs from the schedule page.
